Suki Waterhouse has praised her close pal Taylor Swift for bouncing back from all the things she has been through in a new interview on Thursday. 

The British singer and actress, 34, who has been pals with the pop megastar, 36, since 2016, gushed she is an ‘inspiration’ as she candidly opened up about their close friendship.

Speaking to Variety, Suki said the Cruel Summer hitmaker has ‘been through so much’ and praised her for ‘pulling herself through every time’. 

She said: ‘The coolest thing about her is she gives other artists these insane opportunities that really change people’s lives. 

‘Knowing her as a friend, she’s actually been through so much. And I think the thing I always see in her is how she pulls herself through every time, and how everything that’s ever happened to her becomes another piece of art that becomes part of the legacy.

‘That’s so inspiring — that’s the artist that you want to be.’

Suki opened for Taylor’s Eras Tour London concert in August 2024, just five-months after welcoming her first child with partner Robert Pattinson. 

At the time the new mum, who performed for the 90,000-strong crowd, revealed the backstage drama that took place at the gig at Wembley that nearly derailed her act.

Speaking to The Times about the experience, Suki revealed she was set on having an outfit with ‘massive sleeves’ and enlisted French fashion house Chloé to make her a dress.

However, the dress wasn’t collected ahead of the show and on the day Suki was set to perform, Chloé was closed, resulting in drastic action being taken.

Suki recalled: ‘One of my managers gave a porter £500 to break in and grab the dress. I think there were literally 140 [phone] calls.’

Thankfully, the dress made its way to Suki less than two hours before she was due to perform, with Suki kept in the dark by her management until then ‘because I was already stressing’.

Suki also revealed that she had been asked to open for her friend the year before, sharing: ‘Taylor did mention that at dinner a year ago. I didn’t know if it was real.

‘But that’s the thing about her: I should have known, she always plans. When she says something, she’s gonna do it.’

The look-a-like stars have been close friends since 2016 when they were pictured in matching outfits – and have even double dated with Suki’s fiancé Robert Pattinson and Taylor’s then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

After the show, Suki took to Instagram to share: ‘The last time I was at Wembley I was dancing my a*s off at the Reputation tour! Never did I think the next time I’d be here would be opening for my favourite artist with my friends and family in the crowd’.

‘Thank you @taylorswift for this once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in my beloved London and for the unwavering support in my own journey as an artist. You are the world’s biggest and brightest star, I love you so much.

‘My nervous system will never be the same after last night. Someone go tell this girl on the last slide she just opened for ERAS BABY!!!’.

Opening for Taylor has geared up Suki for her own shows, and she has since dropped her second album, embarked on a North American tour, and announced her third studio album.

The tour was different than others as she went on the road with her then five-month-old daughter she shares with Robert, whose name they have not disclosed.

She mused: ‘I’m actually really excited about [taking her on the tour bus]. I know that sounds crazy. But I really am. I didn’t have a baby to be like: “Oh, I’ll just leave her at home for five weeks.” That’s not even an option. I’m absolutely obsessed with being with my baby, so I would never [leave her].’

Yet she’s under no illusion that it could be a struggle so Robert will pitch in if needed.

She explained: ‘If it gets crazy and I feel like the baby needs a break, then her dad will come and get her and she’ll go and hang out with him on set. You just make it work.’
