Taylor Swift’s elementary school teachers spoke to CBS Philadelphia about the superstar as a young girl.

Her teachers – music teacher Barbara Kolvek and her third grade teacher Heather Brown both said how proud they were of their former student.

Barbara revealed that Taylor was ‘always writing poetry, always. Even in music class even when she shouldn’t,’ she said with a laugh.

Adding that she gave Taylor, 34, her first singing solo, a song called Fast Talk Freddie.

Barbara said they stayed in touch for a while.

She looked back at yearbooks and revealed that Taylor said in first grade she wanted to be a stock broker, and by second grade it had changed to singer.

‘I feel like I gave her a little spark or encouragement to do what she was doing,’ she added.

Heather, a third grade school teacher, said Taylor was in the first class she ever taught at the same private school that Barbara taught at.

[She ] probably doesn’t get the messages anymore, but I still send her a Christmas card every year. I still write her notes and congratulate her,’ Heather said.

‘Everything she touches turns to gold, and I’m just so excited to see what’s next,’ Heather said.

‘When she comes out on stage and everyone’s screaming “Taylor!” its like, oh my gosh, like I was her teacher!’ Heather said.

‘I would say how proud I was of her and that she has never lost her focus and she’s never lost the real person that she is. She’s always been very honest and open and I admire that in her,’ Barbara said.’
