Scarlett Johansson’s fans got a surprise blast from the past when a former classmate reminded them of one of her forgotten romances.
The 41-year-old actress was featured in a yearbook photo posted to Instagram on Tuesday by her high school classmate Christy Carlson Romano, 42, which also revealed one of her earliest celebrity romances.
Romano — who’s best known for starring with Shia LaBeouf on the Disney Channel series Even Stevens and voicing the title character on Kim Possible — shared a photo of the class of 2002 from her prep school, the New York–based acting-focused Professional Children’s School.
In the top row of aspiring performers stood a young Johansson, along with her then boyfriend, the superproducer and singer–songwriter Jack Antonoff, 41.
Antonoff — who sported a shaggy hairdo that was a far cry from the more reserved looks he displays today — even telegraphed that he and Johansson were an item by placing his hand on her shoulder in the class photo.
Carlson, who shared the photos to promote her upcoming memoir Once Upon A Trainwreck, also included a vintage photo with another celebrity friend and Disney Channel alumna, Hilary Duff, along with her sister Haylie.

Johansson and Antonoff reportedly began dating in 2001 — the year that her breakthrough film Ghost World was released — before splitting in 2003, after both had graduated.
The young lovers were previously seen in photos from their 2002 prom, and they showed off some PDA in pictures snapped in September 2002 at the BCBG Spring 2003 fashion show in New York City.
In 2014, a classmate of the future stars claimed that Antonoff had been torn up after he and Johansson split.

In 2005, Antonoff’s band Steel Train released the song Better Love, which is rumored to be about their romance.
‘Scars are in her name / And she scars me in blame / Hey Scarlett, you’re not the same,’ Antonoff sings, leading fans to believe he was alluding to the Marriage Story actress.
Johansson followed up Antonoff with several other celebrity partners.
She went on to have brief flings with Jared Leto and Josh Hartnett in the mid-2000s, before tying the knot with Ryan Reynolds in 2008.

That video was directed by his then-girlfriend, the writer, director and actor Lena Dunham, whom he was first linked to in 2012.
He and Dunham split in late 2017, and he went on to date the model Carlotta Kohl from 2018 to 2020.
A year after their split, Antonoff — who is best known for his work as a producer and co-songwriter with Taylor Swift — was linked to The Substance star Margaret Qualley when they were seen kissing in New York City in August 2021.
Qualley debuted an engagement ring the following year, and she and Antonoff wed in 2023.
