Pat McAfee has revealed he sweated ‘all over’ Taylor Swift when he met her for the first time at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Monday Night Football season opener this week.
Swift was once again front and center as her now-husband Travis Kelce began his 14th season in the NFL, and she could be seen celebrating wildly as Kansas City sealed a huge 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead.
Midway through the game, McAfee left his spot on the ESPN set to head to Kelce’s private suite, and he has now detailed the awkward moment he got a little too close for comfort with the pop superstar.
Speaking on his self-titled ESPN show, McAfee revealed: ‘Got a chance to chitchat with Miss Taylor Swift last night. Huge day… On the way out, I go, “Miss Taylor, is there any way I can get a selfie with you?” She said, “Absolutely!”
‘She was so kind. So hospitable. I go, “Miss Taylor,” and she goes, “Pat!” I go, “How are you?”‘ He then acted out the hug they shared, adding: ‘Just sweat all over her.’
He then recalled apologizing to her after the hug, telling the singer: ‘So sorry that this happened. Great to meet you. You’re the best.’

McAfee went on to give some rare insight into the atmosphere in Kelce’s suite, which on Monday night was occupied by the likes of Tom Cruise, Donna Kelce, Jason Kelce, and both Taylor and her mom Andrea.
‘She’s all in,’ McAfee said of the new Mrs Kelce. ‘Every snap. It was… that was the most into-it suite we’ve ever been in.
‘Everybody in there was all in, and then [Travis] had that [59]-yard catch. We were in there for that. Oh my god. That was like what being a football fan was like… because I don’t know how much she was into football.
‘Watching them experience a game was fantastic.’
Swift’s appearance at the game came as something of a surprise given it was on the same night as the Emmy Awards.
The singer had been nominated for five awards for her concert special – Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show – but she opted to skip the ceremony to be with her man in Missouri.
While she ultimately didn’t win any awards, she did appear in a pre-recorded Law & Order skit alongside host Mariska Hargitay.

On his show, McAfee also revealed the midgame snack the VIP suite enjoyed on Monday night, courtesy of Swift’s mom Andrea.
He claimed Mrs Swift brought candied bacon to the game, which the rest of the group were able to enjoy as they watched the action.
Next up, the Chiefs are once again at Arrowhead to host the Indianapolis Colts in primetime on Sunday Night Football.
After Kelce’s three catches for 71 yards in the season opener, Swift and her crew will be hoping the tight end can go one better and score a touchdown in Week 2.
