There’s nothing worse than travelling home in an Uber, only to discover when you walk through the door that you’ve left a phone or bag in the vehicle.
But rest assured if that has happened to you – you’re not alone.
Uber has revealed the most weird and wonderful objects left in its vehicles this year.
While items of clothing, luggage, headphones and wallets are the most frequently forgotten items, it seems that some Uber riders didn’t just leave the usuals behind.
‘Folks forgot their frontal hair toupees, live turtles, trays of meat pie, tubs of surgical implants, and more,’ Uber said.

Uber’s eighth annual Lost & Found Index provides a snapshot of the most popular – and most surprising – items left behind in Ubers this year.
Clothing, luggage, headphones, wallets and jewellery top the list of most commonly forgotten items, followed by phones, cameras, tablets or books, laptops and vapes.
However, it’s the list of most ‘unique’ lost items that’s likely to garner the most attention.
Several wearable items were left behind in Ubers, including a frontal hair toupee, a fake tooth, a furry fox tail, a fake butt, and a thong.
Props from shows or concerts were also left, ranging from a Beyonce fold up fan to a framed Taylor Swift autograph.
Other forgotten items were just straight-up bizarre.
One user left behind a fart sensor, while another reported a missing Jeep Liberty engine.
And one confusing report simply read: ‘I left a leaf in your car that’s much needed.’
Unsurprisingly, several food items were left behind in vehicles, including a whole smoked pork belly, a pan of chicken spaghetti, and a tray of meat pie

‘I left some pasta in the back by accident. Feel free to have it! It was so yummy and I didn’t eat out of the plate. Thanks again!’ one user wrote to their driver.
Strangely, the index reveals that riders are much more likely to forget items on certain days and times.
‘January 21st is the most forgetful day of the year, with the most lost items recorded,’ Uber said.
‘The most popular hours of the day lost items were reported were 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm.’
If you leave an item in a vehicle, Uber says the best way to retrieve it is to call the driver.
To do so, open the Uber app and tap ‘Activity’ on the bottom icon menu.
Select the trip on which you lost the item, and scroll down to ‘Find lost item’ in the Help menu, and then ‘Contact driver about a lost item’.
Enter your phone number to call the driver.
If they pick up and confirm that the item has been found, you can coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet.
If they don’t pick up, leave a detailed voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you.
‘Whether it’s your Beyoncé fold up fan or a whole smoked pork belly, we want to help you reunite with your prized possessions!’ Uber added.
