The track Elizabeth Taylor is featured on the singer-songwriter’s 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl.
The Eras artist opened up about the meaning of the song in a recent Z100 radio interview.
She explained, ‘In this record, there’s a song called Elizabeth Taylor, which is sort of my emotions and my issues with fame through the lens of cosplaying the life of Elizabeth Taylor, so you kind of meld the two experiences together.’
The longtime performer added about the Hollywood legend, ‘She is always someone that I’ve looked up to as being this very glamorous, very beloved, but for some reason a polarizing figure — which, [I’ve] found myself in that place, too.’
Her latest project was released on October 3, weeks after she announced the album on her now-fiancé Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast in mid August.
Taylor’s album release coincided with a behind-the-scenes movie that played exclusively in AMC theaters from October 3-5.
The 89-minute feature, called The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, raked in $15.8 million in earnings from 3,702 locations. on its opening day.

Taylor’s interaction with AJ comes after another boy bander she’s connected to recently made a rare comment about her.
Her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas weighed in on her new music, 17 years after they split.
Speaking to Esquire alongside his Jonas Brothers bandmates, siblings Kevin and Nick, the 36-year-old musician was asked about the singer.
Joe — who was previously married to Taylor’s friend Sophie Turner — was asked if he likes the former’s latest album.
‘I’ve heard some of it. I think she’s obviously the biggest artist out there, and I think it’s good. Everybody’s got an opinion about it, but from what I’ve heard, there are some catchy melodies,’ he said.
It came after in 2008 Taylor aired out her grievances over her breakup with Joe in an Ellen DeGeneres interview.
She famously said she wasn’t ‘going to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 27 seconds when I was 18.’
