Taylor Swift has left fans totally baffled after a throwback video revealed the unusual way in which she holds a pencil.
The resurfaced footage was recorded in 2006 when the 35-year-old singer was just 16 years old, and showed how she navigated life as a sophomore at Hendersonville High School.
Speaking in the video, Taylor shared insight into how she manages to balance her songwriting with her schoolwork.
‘Usually when I’m at school, a song will just pop into my head,’ she said. ‘Sitting there in class and getting a melody and lyrics just coming to you…
‘I’ll pull out my cell phone and make a voice memo and people think I’m crazy talking to myself. I feel something, I filter it into a song.’
Taylor also spoke about her friendships, sharing that her close pals were ‘extremely supportive.’
‘We hang out as much as possible,’ she continued. ‘When I’m not working, I’m with them.
‘They know all the words to my songs. They really just support me as a person and as am artist. They’re all just beautiful to me and I love them.’

Viewers, however, couldn’t move past the ‘awkward’ way in which Taylor held a pencil while writing.
Typically, one positions a pencil between the thumb, index, and middle fingers to get a comfortable grip.
But Taylor was seen holding the writing instrument in between her index finger and middle finger – and it didn’t take confused Reddit users long to point it out.
One noted: ‘What an odd way to hold a pencil.’
‘The way she holds that blue pencil is crazy,’ another observed.
Echoing a similar sentiment, another brutally asked: ‘Who the f**k writes like that!?’
‘I just want to know who taught her to hold a pencil/pen,’ said a fourth.
Another commented: ‘Omg I was thinking the same thing! What an awkward way to hold a pen.’

Last week, Taylor’s former high school classmate and NASCAR driver Josh Berry shaded her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Josh and Taylor both attended Henderson High School in Henderson, Tennessee, with Taylor transferring out after her sophomore year due to her music career taking off and opting to be home schooled.
While Josh did not directly know the multi-award winner, he had mutual connections with her due to walking the same halls at one time despite being in different grades.
‘It’s one of those things when you’re doing an interview one day and somebody’s like, ‘Hey, what’s a funny, crazy story about you?” he said on the Rubbin’ Is Racing podcast.
‘I’m like, “Oh, I went to school with Taylor Swift.” You don’t think that’s that big of a deal. But good gosh, man. It never ends.’
‘Then she starts dating Travis Kelce and it all comes back again,’ Josh added. ‘I’m like, “I don’t care about Travis Kelce. He has nothing to do with me.” It just never ends.’
