There’s a real sentiment for ‘ugly’ footwear among the fashion crowd this season. First, there was the ‘snoafer’; a hybrid between a sneaker and a loafer that was introduced by New Balance, although brands like Puma and Hoka were quick to launch their own take. Then came the ‘sneakerina’, a new entrant in the Frankenshoe trend in the shape of a sneaker-slash-ballet flat, courtesy of brands like Louis Vuitton and Adidas.

Now, Crocs and Simone Rocha are gearing up to launch their third shoe collection – and for SS25, they’ve reinvented the already divisive fisherman sandal.

Unlike the minimalist silhouette (a flat sole, closed-toe front and thick leather straps in a neutral shade of black, brown or white) that was all over our Instagram feeds last summer thanks to celebrity wearers like Hailey Bieber and Taylor Swift, Simone Rocha and Crocs have embraced the boldness of the fisherman sandal.

For the third drop, the Irish fashion designer, who is known for her hyper-feminine designs and use of intricate details, has reimagined the footwear brand’s controversial ‘Stomp’ shoe. (The name really says it all.) The result is an excessively chunky fisherman sandal with Rocha’s signature crystal and pearl embellishments and a hefty price tag of £250.

The Fisherman Stomp comes in white, black and, for those really looking to make a fashion statement, electric pink. They will be available to purchase in Simone Rocha stores and online from April 7th, as well as the Crocs app from April 11th, along with two new colourways of the now-iconic bedazzled Siren clogs. (Yes, the heeled ones.)

The previous two collaborations between Crocs and Simone Rocha sold out quickly, so if you want to get your hands on a pair of the ugliest high-fashion shoes of the season, don’t forget to set your alarm.
