British fashion designer Charlotte Simone’s coats have become a favourite of the fashion set. Worn by the likes of Florence Pugh and Emma Roberts, you’ll recognise the now Instagram-famous designs by the brand’s signature shaggy, faux fur collars and cuffs and combination of bright colourways and animal prints.
Perhaps the greatest seal of approval? Taylor Swift is a fan. On Saturday night, the singer headed out in £395 Charlotte Simone’s Billie Jacket, a cropped black style with biscotti-coloured fur trim (see below). And it’s not her first time wearing the brand: Swift’s previously worn a black long-line jacket and a statement red one to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs (their team colour is red, FYI).
Simone founded her eponymous label almost a decade ago, and previously released her collections in the traditional way: four times a year. Over the past few years, she has introduced a new business model structured around releasing two ‘winter drops’ each autumn that are available for online purchase on charlottesimone.com for just one week.
This new model allows the brand to focus on quality over quantity. A Charlotte Simone coat averages at £350 and is produced in limited numbers. For the first of this season’s two drops last year, there were only 450 pieces available of the fan-favourite Olive coat, while the Lexy, a chocolate brown faux fur number with powder pink cuffs, was just one of 300.
