It’s that time of year when Spotify ‘s 626 million users get excited about their 2024 Wrapped playlist , leaving many users to wonder about the release date. The feature offers a personalized flashback to users’ listening habits for the past 12 months, showing their 100 most-streamed songs. This includes unique facts about their listening habits, their music aura and what region of the world their musical taste fits into.
So far, Spotify has kept the release date under wraps, but given its past history users can expect it to drop any day now. Users have noticed that Spotify France created a live event on X titled ‘We Predict Your Wrapped 2024 that is set to broadcast overnight from December 3 to December 4, leading many to believe that it will be released on Wednesday.
Spotify has informed users that they will need to take steps to access their music time capsule by ensuring they have the latest app version. ‘If your phone isn’t set to update the app automatically and you haven’t manually updated it in a while, you may be missing out on some pretty great features,’ Spotify said.
For those owning iPhones, make sure the application is updated to its latest 8.9.94 version and Android users need to have version 8.9.96.476 downloaded. Spotify typically releases Wrapped by December 1, but this year marks the latest Spotify has released the feature since 2018.
However, the trend of Spotify releasing playlists at the end of November has led many to believe it will come out between Tuesday and Thursday this week. Spotify Wrapped was first released in 2015 and has since exploded in popularity with users sharing their top playlists on social media each year.
The streaming service has so far only teased the release on the app, reminding users to check their top songs for 2023 and their favorite songs in 2022 to compare their past listening habits to the ones in 2024. Spotify hasn’t confirmed what new features listeners can expect to see this year, but has previously added exciting features to its Wrapped content with each release .
Last year, the company matched listeners to a Sound Town which told them how their music tastes aligned with other parts of the world. While many expect the company to roll out yet another update before the Wrapped 2024 release, the process should be seamless as long as listeners are using the latest version of the application.
In case of persisting issues, the company suggests uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify on Android or iPhones or using the desktop version. The notice came hours after the company dropped a Wrapped 2024 teaser video on X which said: ‘This year contained multitudes. So will your Wrapped. Coming Soon.’ The video featured nine versions of the iconic Spotify logo in various colors and designs.
Eagle-eyed viewers have worked to crack the code on all nine logos, claiming the black and gray spiked one referenced Hardstone Pscyho by Don Toliver and a purple and white with sparkles was a hat tip to Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets Department album. DailyMail.com has reached out to Spotify for more information about the upcoming release.
