Strictly Come Dancing fans have shared their concerns for a professional dancer and begged ‘please get checked out’ following their performance on Saturday.

Over the weekend, the celebrities competed in the BBC shows first Icons Week where they paid tribute to the likes of The Beatles, Taylor Swift and Whitney Houston.

And former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, 26, and partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 34, danced to Pink’s What About Us?

The pair put on an incredible performance as they danced their couple’s choice routine barefoot.

Tasha and Aljaz received a standing ovation for their amazing routine, which included some impressive lifts.

As they made their way over to host Tess Daly ahead of the judges’ comments the pair were both short of breath.

Aljaz – who returned this series after a two-year absence – seemed particularly out of breath, with his heavy breathing being picked up by the microphone he was wearing.

It caused alarm for some Strictly viewers watching at home, who took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to ask the dancer to ‘get checked out’.

‘Aljaz you need to get checked out for that shortness of breath, love; I’m rather concerned that Aljaz is about to keel over with a coronary!

‘Bit worried about Aljaz’s breathing… do a Covid test, please; SOMEBODY CUT ALJAZ’S MIC! The deep exhausted breathing is KILLING ME!; Aljaz needs to work on his cardio a bit;

‘I’m crying that dance almost killed Alijaz, bro is breathing SO LOUD; Sound people not turning Aljaz mic off and just the constant heavy breathing has sent me;

‘Crikey! Aljaž needs to knock Strictly on the head if it’s affecting his breathing that badly; I’ve noticed this series that Aljaz is very out of breath. Is he not fit? He should get himself checked out’.

It was no wonder Aljaz was out of breath following the energetic routine which saw him and Tasha score a massive 39 points from the judges, placing them joint top of the leaderboard alongside JLS star JG Gill and partner Lauren Oakley.

The pair were scored 29 for their American Smooth performance during Saturday’s episode which landed them at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Then after a public vote they went head to head in a shock dance off against Montell Douglas and Johannas Radebe, which saw them voted off by the judges.

On Sunday, Sam and Nikita performed their American Smooth to Love Story by Taylor Swift again, while Montell and Johannes performed their Waltz to I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.

With three votes in favour of Montell and Johannes, they won the majority vote meaning that Sam and Nikita would be leaving the competition.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas also agreed and said she would have decided to save Montell and Johannes.

When asked by Tess about her time on the show, Sam said: ‘I’m gutted, I just want to say thank you.

‘I’ve learned so much. Strictly has just brought that spring in my step back. It’s just been an absolute joy.

‘Nikita, you’ve been key in helping me find that inner Sam that was there, who went a little bit quiet for maybe one or two years and has just come back. I’m gutted because I do feel like I still have more to give.’

Nikita said: ‘I’m just in awe of this girl. Sometimes they say it’s about the journey, not the destination, but to me it’s about the company.

‘Sam you are the most wonderful company I could have had.’

‘I’m guilty of watching the competition and thinking ‘How do they have that relationship as a celebrity and a dancer?’ Sam added.

‘All I can say is, the time you spend with each other and what you bring out in each other. It really is, and it sounds dead cheesy, magical.’

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
