One of Joe Biden’s closest allies is turning up the heat on Taylor Swift to get back into politics, saying he hopes the megastar endorses the president’s re-election.
Swift occasionally wades into politics and previously endorsed Biden in 2020 when she backed him to ‘start a healing process’ in America.
‘Taylor Swift is an incredible American creative phenomenon,’ Senator Chris Coons, who represents Biden’s home state of Delaware, said on The News Agents USA podcast on Wednesday.
‘To have Taylor Swift publicly support and endorse Joe Biden would make a big and a significant difference because…there are younger Americans who are not as clear, not as engaged, not as excited about this campaign as I hope they will be.’
The Democrat jokes he would like to see Swift ‘engaged’ both on the campaign trail – and to NFL beau Travis Kelce.

Coons also swatted down concerns over Biden’s age, noting he and Trump ‘could have gone to high school together.’
‘To be clear, which one of them is healthy and vibrant, thin, trim, energetic and which one of them looks like he could have a heart attack at any moment after eating another late-night Big Mac?’ Coons joked.
‘I don’t hear the same questions about Donald Trump. What matters more, frankly, is what are they saying when they speak.’
Biden was asked by Seth Myers in February on NBC’s ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ whether he thought the ‘Anti-Hero’ hit maker might throw her support behind his campaign again.
‘I told you, it’s classified,’ Biden replied.
Swift also caused a political splash when she came out against Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn – who she’s deemed ‘Trump in a wig.’
‘As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn,’ she wrote on Instagram in 2018.
‘Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me,’ Swift said of Blackburn, who went on to win the seat.

In recent days Taylor has been loved-up with Kelce, her boyfriend of around six months. The pair were recently seen on a tropical vacation in The Bahamas.
Between show dates on her blockbuster ‘Eras’ tour, she’s releasing a new album next month, The Tortured Poets’ Department. She’ll embark on the European leg of her tour in May and Kelce recently confirmed he’ll be heading to Europe this summer to support her.
After heading to Nanterre, France on May 9, Swift will perform a host of shows in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria over the next three months.
While he didn’t clarify which cities he will be joining her in, Kelce hinted that his girlfriend’s shows in London and Paris will be ‘can’t-miss’ events.
‘I think she’s at Wembley [Stadium] eight times,’ he said. ‘Which is mind-blowing that she can do that many shows in one stadium and fill that thing up.’
‘And London is always an amazing city and Paris is a beautiful city and she will be all over Europe.
‘There won’t be a bad show, I promise you that.’
