Patrick Mahomes Sr. will be able to go to the Super Bowl since his bond conditions have not barred him from traveling out of state, DailyMail.com can confirm.

The quarterback’s father, 53, was arrested in Tyler, Texas for a felony DWI on Saturday night. It was his third or more time he’d been apprehended for driving while intoxicated, making the offense a felony rather than a misdemeanor.

Mahomes Sr. was held at the Smith County Jail on a $10,000 bond. The 6’4 former professional baseball pitcher slept in jail overnight and was bonded out on Sunday.

Now, bond documents have confirmed he will be able to travel to Las Vegas to watch the Chiefs next week – but he’ll have to remain sober, and won’t be able to have any liquor while partying in the VIP box.

Mahomes Sr. is usually flanked by his glamorous daughter-in-law, Brittany Mahomes, and Travis Kelce’s popstar girlfriend Taylor Swift at the Chiefs’ nail-biting games.

Mahomes Sr. was pulled over at 8.30pm on Saturday night during a traffic stop.

An officer saw his white Genesis traveling too slowly as he went west in the 1100 block of W. Gentry. Cops ran his registration – which had expired in September 2022.

They pulled him over, at which point the officer saw that Mahomes Sr. had an open 16oz Coors can in his center console.

He said that he had been drinking a few beers while watching the game at a local bar. Mahomes Sr. performed field sobriety tests and failed.

He was then arrested and booked into jail for the DWI.

The father of the millionaire Chiefs quarterback had his jail fee paid for by Ace Bail Bonds – a third party bond service that people can use in counties across Texas.

According to bond documents seen by DailyMail.com, Mahomes Sr. is allowed to travel freely despite his felony arrest – but he is banned from drinking alcohol or taking illegal drugs as part of his agreement.

He must also show up to Smith County’s probation office on Monday morning to meet with an officer and receive further instructions.

Mahomes Sr. will also have to fix an ignition interlock device on his car – so that he cannot start the vehicle without being breathalyzed first.

The quarterback’s father will also have to submit to random alcohol and drug testing during his bond period. He was also reminded that he must obey the law.

His bond was overseen and signed by Judge James Meredith on February 4.

The Tyler Police Department said in a statement: ‘On February 3rd, 2024, at around 8:30pm, an officer with the Tyler Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling west in the 1100 block of W. Gentry Pkwy. Evidence obtained during the stop led to the arrest of the driver, identified as Patrick Mahomes Sr.

‘He was booked into the Smith County Jail for Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or more, a 3rd degree felony.’

The Smith County District Attorney’s office told DailyMail.com that Mahomes Sr.’s case is not yet on their system – but a hearing in front of a judge is expected in due course.

They said there is no timeline for this – and his court date could occur after his son’s Super Bowl performance with the Kansas City Chiefs on February 11.

For felony arrests in Texas, it is not uncommon for bond conditions to include barring the defendant from leaving the state before their day in court.

Mahomes Sr. has been arrested a total of six times for driving while intoxicated, according to public booking records – twice in 2012, twice in 2018, once in 2019, and now once in 2024.

On his DWI charge in 2018, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 40 days in county jail on weekends during 2019 and 2020.

After two DWI convictions in Texas, the third DWI offense is classed as a third degree felony. The maximum fine is $10,000, and the maximum prison sentence is 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice penitentiary.

This is not the Mahomes family’s first run in with the law. The Chiefs quarterback’s younger brother Jackson was arrested on a warrant for aggravated sexual battery and booked into a Kansas jail in 2023.

In January this year, three felony counts of aggravated sexual battery were dropped. A fourth charge — misdemeanor battery — remains, and Jackson Mahomes pleaded not guilty to that charge.

Jackson Mahomes’ attorney, Brandan Davies, said in a statement that his client ‘has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed.’

The original charges accused Jackson Mahomes, a 23-year-old social media influencer, of crimes that occurred February 25 at Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City.

Investigators said Mahomes shoved a waiter who tried to come into a room where he was with the restaurant’s owner, Aspen Vaughn.

After the waiter left, Mahomes grabbed Vaughn by the throat and forcefully kissed her three different times without her consent, prosecutors alleged.
