Bryce Dallas Howard is now offering her take on the viral Taylor Swift-Argylle conspiracy theory.
During an appearance on the Graham Norton Show, the actress dished on her new spy action comedy film Argylle, for which she plays Elly Conway, which included denying rumors Taylor Swift was involved in the writing of the book and movie.
But she did go on to admit the pop superstar was actually the inspiration for her character, who’s an introverted spy novelist who seldom leaves her home.
‘We can’t pretend she was involved,’ the Hollywood leading lady, 42, said on Friday’s episode of British talk show. ‘The reality is she was in many ways a great inspiration.’
‘She is a cat lady. She’s got this awesome backpack with a cat in [it] that she walks around with. She loves a good argyle sweater, and there is a sort of unapologetic dorkiness about her,’ Howard continued in her reference to Taylor Swift.
‘That’s a little bit like what my character is like.’
Bryce Dallas Howard, 42, denied there is any truth to the theory that Taylor Swift was involved in the creation of the new spy comedy film Argylle
Ever since people first got word of the film, its storyline, and trailer, Swiftie fans began to speculate their theories about the Lover singer-songwriter being involved in its creation.
Many people pointed to the number of similarities related to the book and movie that fans thought could be Easter eggs.
In the movie’s trailer, Howard’s character has a Scottish Fold cat that’s similar to Swift’s feline Meredith Grey.
Plus, the cat in the film can be seen being carried around in a specially designed argyle-patterned backpack with a window, which is another dead-ringer for the one Swift uses in her Netflix documentary Miss Americana.
Some other theories include fans pointing to Howard’s wavy red hair and how its reminiscent of the red wig Swift donned to play a writer in All Too Well: The Short Film, according to Vox.
And then there’s Swift’s big cozy cardigan that could easily be a nod to her song Cardigan, the lead single off her studio album Folklore (2020).
True Swiftie fans know she’s long been a lover of cats, and that she currently lived with her three beloved kitties: Meredith, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button.
In another denial, Argylle director Matthew Vaughn shut down rumors of the singer being involved in any way, which includes during an interview with Rolling Stone.

The filmmaker revealed he initially found out about the conspiracy from his own daughter, who told him that the book was written by the Anti-Hero singer-songwriter
Ultimately, he had to sit her down and set the record straight.
‘It’s a really good book,’ Vaughn, 52, told the publication. ‘And there is an Elly Conway who wrote the book, but it’s not Taylor Swift. And I say that because I imagine Taylor Swift has a load of people trying to jump on her bandwagon left, right and center, and I don’t want to be a part of that club.’
‘I did read the conspiracies and I was like, “Wow, they don’t leave a stone unturned!”‘ the director added. ‘But it’s not Taylor Swift. She definitely didn’t write the book.’
